Each year, AWL hosts Women Judges’ Night, a one-of-a-kind evening of celebration and inspiration that brings together approximately 300 attorneys and judges from around the state. Because we are unable to gather this year, we are excited to announce the first ever When There Are 9k Run/Walk beginning on March 15, 2021.
The title and length of this event are a tribute to the incredible and irreplaceable Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who is famously quoted as having stated: “When I'm sometimes asked when will there be enough [women on the Supreme Court] and I say, 'When there are nine,' people are shocked. But there'd been nine men, and nobody's ever raised a question about that.” Justice Ginsburg would have turned 88 years old on March 15, 2021, and we honor her by launching this event on her birthday.
Register now and walk or run wherever and whenever you want during the week of March 15th, for a total of 9 kilometers (about 5.5 miles). Snap a photo of yourself and your crew and post it to our Facebook page.
Register by February 10th and receive a free event tshirt. Be one of the first 100 registered families and receive a free "swag" bag too!
In addition to honoring women judges, and in remembrance of the esteemed Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the When There Are 9k Run/Walk will benefit the AWL Foundation’s scholarship program for female law students attending Marquette University Law School and the University of Wisconsin Law School.
