Since 1899, NAWL has been empowering women in the legal profession, cultivating a diverse membership dedicated to equality, mutual support, and collective success. NAWL’s mission is to provide leadership, a collective voice, and essential resources to advance women in the legal profession and advocate for the equality of women under the law. The Meeting the Challenge Conference is NAWL's distinctive forum during which attendees learn from thought-leaders, share best practices, and forge the meaningful and lasting connections necessary to meet NAWL's One-Third by 2020 Challenge. Issued in March 2016, the 2020 Challenge urges the legal profession to increase the representation of women, particularly diverse women, in every branch of the legal profession. This conference will offer attendees skills to develop their own leadership potential as well as strategies for making systemic change. NAWL will also unveil the results of its 2018 Survey on the Promotion and Retention of Women in Law Firms, administered by Professor Destiny Peery of Northwestern University's Pritzker School of Law at the conference. Registration is open to NAWL members and non-members. Scholarships are available for attorneys who wish to attend but may not be able to do so due to cost considerations.
